The brief
Our client required a contemporary transformation of their home, with particular emphasis on the living areas and the flow through to the garden.
Design intent
To introduce natural light and provide a more inviting dining experience.
The result
We provided additional space by widening the kitchen, which is now the hub of the house. The kitchen features backlit cupboards with opaque glass doors to give the feel of clerestory windows, and a cantilevered barbecue benchtop that flows through to the rear deck.
We also opened out the kitchen to the rear of the house to provide a better connection with the garden. Internally, we designed skylights to bring light into the centre of the house, and introduced glass blocks to further lighten these spaces.
The end result is a very comfortable, light-filled contemporary home.
